Coffee S(l)aving

Face it.  We all love Starbucks.

For some reason, the prospect of having a delicious cup of coffee with your name written on it (normally misspelt) along with the occasional smiley face, message or greeting from the barista is ideal.  Oh, and it's totally Instagram-worthy as well.  Hashtag hipster.  Also, with a Starbucks on campus itself, it's all very tempting.

But are we really going to fish out fifteen dollars for coffee?  You may try to justify it by proclaiming it's premium roasted handcrafted coffee but is there such a distinct difference in taste compared to a packet of Nescafe?

Nevertheless, if you're reluctant on switching your coffee fix to not so premium roasted handcrafted coffee, here's a few ways you could save your money at Starbucks.

(And okay, yes, I admit.  I'm a slave to Starbucks as well, which is why every single picture in this post was taken by yours truly.  No need to lift any images off Google, I have aplenty of Starbucks pictures in my camera album.  Oops.)

1.  Get a Starbucks card.

All you have to do is reload RM 20 into the card in order to receive one.  Basically, it's your credit card for Starbucks.  Some may render it useless by arguing that it's no different than just paying with good old cash but hey, it comes along with a ton of benefits!

With every 10 drinks you purchase with this card, you receive a free Grande beverage of your choice!  If you happen to purchase a drink within your birthday month, you receive a complimentary slice of cake!  (And who doesn't love cake?)  The same thing applies to food, purchase 7 food items and you get a free donut.  It's pretty rad.


2.  Buy a Starbucks tumbler.

This one's for those of you who prefer lattes over frappuccinos.  Instead of using their paper cups, bring along your Starbucks tumbler and you'll receive a RM1 discount on your drink!  It may not be much, but a little goes a long way.  You'd have saved 10 bucks in no time.

And hey, you're saving the environment too!


3.  Order a Venti sized drink and split it into half.

If you and a friend happen to have the same Starbucks order, ask them for a Venti but to split it into half.  Sharing is always a good idea if you're on a tight budget.  And hey, half a cup is better than nothing, right?




And the easiest way to save your money at Starbucks?


4.  Just don't get anything.  Seriously.  Save the cash.


Oh and you won't have to go through that little fit of annoyance you get when they misspell your name.
