5 College Students & How They Dress To Campus

Walking into Taylor's Lakeside, there's one thing for sure you're bound to notice.

We have the liberty to wear whatever we want to campus and aren't enslaved to any strict dress codes.  Another thing you'd notice is that everyone's style is heterogeneous.  The only thing we have in common is our diversity and while that may seem like quite a paradox, let us examine five of the many types of college students and their sense of style.

1.  The Fashionista

I'm guessing that many of us have found ourselves rolling our eyes and scoffing at people of the Fashionista variety just because we're attending college, not the New York Fashion Week.  But hey, give them the benefit of the doubt.  It takes a whole lot of will and discipline to be able to get up at seven in the morning and come to college looking as though they belong in Vogue rather than a Pre-Calc class even though they may have only garnered about.. four hours of sleep the previous night?  Major respect for them right there.

Their catchphrase?  "I can't wear that top again, I've already worn it twice!!!"

2.  The Hipster

Think beanies, scarves, skinny jeans, funky hats and ironic slogan tees.  While it may seem out of the norm, these people sure know how to pull it off.  Complete that with a pair of headphones dangling round their neck and hippie sunglasses.  

Their catchphrase?  "These pants aren't that tight.  You should see what some of my friends wear, now that's tight."

3.  The Laidback I-Couldn't-Care-Less

Oversized t-shirts, large sweaters and jeans are second skin for these people.  They don't get all the hype over the latest trends and are walking examples of the saying - less is more.  Simplicity at its best, right?

Their catchphrase?  "Kimono cardigans?  What are you, Japanese?  This is Malaysia lah, wear a baju kurung if you're trying to be traditional."

4.  Polished, Prim & Proper

Don't mistaken them for working adults.  Clad from head to toe in a simple yet elaborate well-put together outfit, you can't help but be in awe of how smart and classy they look.  It almost seems as though they have a presentation every other day.

Their catchphrase?  "What, this?  Oh, it's nothing.  I just felt like wearing a blazer for the fun of it."

5.  The Athletes

                   

You can't tell if they're supposed to attend class, or have some sports tournament to attend.  Nike shoes?  Check.  Adidas top?  Check.  Gym bag in tow?  You got it.  Oh, and you can't help but be envious of those with really cool sports shoes.  

Their catchphrase?  "Can't hang around with you guys now, heading to the gym" or "I'm at the gym, save a seat for me in class."

College?  More like fashion runway.
